News Labour Codes: Gig platforms to set aside 1-2% of turnover for worker welfare

New labour codes mandate online aggregators and marketplaces to contribute 1-2% of their annual turnover to a gig worker welfare fund. This move, impacting companies like Zomato, Swiggy, Uber, and Amazon India, aims to provide welfare benefits through an Aadhaar-linked Universal Account Number for gig and platform workers.
