Court grants hotel interim stay on GST for eatery services

The Bombay High Court has granted an interim stay on the 18% GST levied on restaurant services within hotels charging over ₹7,500 per day for rooms. The court issued notices to authorities, challenging the tax rate's link to room tariffs, arguing it's arbitrary and disproportionate, especially for walk-in customers. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on November 19.
